Admin UI / Windows

DNS Server with Admin UI for Windows

A graphical Admin UI makes a local DNS server easier to configure, especially when working with zones, record types, forwarding, cache, and service controls.

When this is useful

An Admin UI is useful when DNS configuration is edited often or by people who do not want to hand-edit JSON. It helps teams create zones, add records, change forwarding, review logs, and manage Service or Portable mode without memorizing every field format.

It is especially useful for mixed DNS records such as MX, SRV, CAA, PTR, SOA, and NS, where structured fields and validation reduce mistakes before the running server reloads the configuration.

What the Admin UI manages

  • Forward and reverse zones.
  • DNS records such as A, AAAA, CNAME, TXT, MX, SRV, PTR, CAA, SOA, and NS.
  • Windows Service install, uninstall, start, and stop controls in the Service edition.
  • Portable configuration creation and launch controls in the Portable edition.
  • Forwarding, cache, protections, ignored domains, logs, statistics, and license settings.

Why UI matters

DNS configuration is compact but easy to mistype. The Admin UI adds field validation, structured record editors, tooltips, zone settings, and safer save behavior so configuration errors are easier to catch before the server reloads the JSON file.

Still JSON-based

The Admin UI edits a JSON configuration file, so advanced users can still version, inspect, or generate configuration outside the UI when needed.
